Summer Intensive 2024 Audition Form

All prospective students ages 8-18+ must complete the application below. Admission to OBA Summer Intensive is by audition only (in-person or video). In-person audition will take place at OBA studios on January 14, 2024, March 3, 2024 and April 7, 2024. Location: 1495 W El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040
Times for in-person audition (please choose audition time according to your current age, not the age you’ll be at the time of the Summer Intensive):
9:00am - 10:30am - Ages 14+
11:00am - 12:30pm - Ages 11-13
1:00pm - 2:00pm - Ages 8-10
A non refundable fee of $50.00 is required for all auditions (currently enrolled OBA students in levels 4, 5, 6, Pre-Professional don’t require to attend audition and have priority in registration for SI 2024 program). Please pay the fee following this LINK (Pay for SI Audition) before filling up the Application Form below. No Application is valid/accepted without the payment.
If auditioning In-person please bring your full body photo in first arabesque and portrait/headshot photo (except currently enrolled OBA students). Please put photos in envelope and write your Full name and Date of Birth, parent’s email on the back of each photo and on envelope.
Dress code:
Girls should wear a black leotard (current OBA students can wear their regular class uniform) and pink ballet shoes with pink tights.
Boys should wear solid color leotard or fitted t-shirt, black or grey tights, and black or white ballet shoes.
Students who identify as neither or both males and female may choose from one of the above.
Please no warm-ups, skirts, or baggy clothing.
Current OBA students (Pre-Ballet 5, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3) should wear their regular class uniform.
Video audition guidelines:
OBA accepts WEB LINKS(e.g. YouTube, Vimeo). A single video file, containing all the elements outlined below. Only one side needs to be shown of each combination. The frame of the video should show the full body throughout and not include any dancers other than the applicant. The video must have been filmed on or after October 1, 2022 and should not exceed 15 minutes in length. Videos of performance or solo variations will not be considered (you can include them as a separate links).
Girls ages 16 and up should complete all barre work in ballet shoes and wear pointe shoes for
center. Girls ages 12-15 should wear ballet shoes for all combinations, except for the pointe work
combination, which should be completed on pointe. This combination may be placed at the end of the
video after grand allegro. Girls ages 8-11 should wear ballet shoes for all combinations.
Barre work (maximum of 5 minutes; only one side needed of each combination) Pliés, battlement tendus, adagio, grand battements.
Center work (maximum 10 minutes):
Adagio, battlement tendus, pirouette combination (optional )
Allegro combinations:
one small jump- pas echappes, pas assembles, pas jetés;
one medium jamp - sissonnes ouverte, sissonne fermee;
one big jamp - grand jetes, grand pas de chat (optional )
Pointe work (ladies only) - pas echappés, sissonne simple, pirouettes (optional )
