Vadim Sirotin

Vadim Sirotin was born on June 29, 1957, in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 1967, he entered the Vaganova Ballet Academy of Russian Ballet. He graduated in 1975 and joined the esteemed Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. Mr. Sirotin performed various character roles, including Spanish and Hungarian dances in "Swan Lake," Panaderos and Hungarian Dance in "Raymonda," Gypsy Dance, Fandango and Espada in "Don Quixote," Hans in "Giselle," and several roles in "La Bayadère."

In 1999, he graduated from the pedagogical faculty of the Vaganova Ballet Academy and began teaching there in 2000. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of the Character Dance Teaching Methodology Department. Since 2000, Mr. Sirotin has been conducting Master Classes of Character Dance in Japan, Finland, Italy, South Korea, and Singapore. He has staged numerous Classical Ballets in Japan and South Korea, including "The Nutcracker," "Don Quixote", "Le Corsaire", "Scheherazade",and "La Bayadère".

For many years, Vadim Sirotin has participated in all the Graduation Performances of the Vaganova Ballet Academy as a teacher, coach, and mentor. From 1999 to 2023, he performed the role of Drosselmeyer in the Academy’s annual production of "The Nutcracker." In 2021, he worked with the English National Ballet on Tamara Rojo's production of "Raymonda," choreographing all the Character Dances. The premiere took place in London in January 2021. In 2022, he worked on "Raymonda" at the Finnish National Opera, with the Premiere in Helsinki in February 2022.

In October 2023, Vadim Sirotin won the Saharova Pedagogical Mastery Competition in Perm, Russia. In November 2023, he taught a master class in character dance at the Rudolf Nureyev International Ballet Festival in Ufa, Russia. In April 2024, he received a commendation from the Russian Ministry of Culture for his significant contributions to culture and many years of fruitful work.

Currently, Vadim Sirotin is working with Tamara Rojo's team at the San Francisco Ballet on her production of "Raymonda," which is set to premiere on March 1, 2025.
